# DeeMusiq — Pitch Email Template (ZA tech & music press)

Target outlets: MyBroadband, TechCentral, Stuff SA, Disrupt Africa, Music In Africa, iAfrikan.
Personalise the first line per journalist; keep it under one screen.

**Subject line (pick one):**

- `SA-built music app pays artists directly — DeeMusiq v1.1.0 now available`
- `"It's a drop day": KZN startup puts African artists in charge of their own payouts`
- `Pitch: the African streaming app where artists keep 100% ownership`

**Body:**

Hi [First name],

Quick pitch from KwaZulu-Natal: **DeeMusiq** is a home-grown music streaming and
download app that just shipped v1.1.0 — and it flips the usual streaming economics
on their head.

The angle we think fits [Outlet]: **artist payouts.** On DeeMusiq, artists publish
on their *own* accounts, keep their masters and rights, set their own prices, and
draw their royalties when they choose — no label in the middle, no opaque per-stream
maths. For a continent where piracy sites leak albums before release day and global
platforms take the lion's share, we think this is the first model that actually pays
the person who made the music.

A few facts for your notebook:

- Free app on Android, Linux, Windows and macOS — light enough for entry-level phones and everyday data bundles
- Built on open-source software (BSD-4-Clause); offline by default
- Goal: 100+ jobs across SA arts & IT; 2% of profit committed to community (CSI)
- First artists already on the platform (e.g. DJ Lagugga / Dusty Empire Records)

Happy to set up an interview with the founding team, a walkthrough of the payout
flow, or an early review build — whatever suits your deadline. Would this be of
interest for [Outlet]?

Kind regards,
