## 200-word bio

DeeMusiq is Africa's home-grown music platform, built in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa.
For too long, African artists have been squeezed from both sides: piracy sites that
leak music before release day and pay nothing, and faraway platforms that take the
lion's share of every stream. DeeMusiq flips that model. Artists publish on their own
accounts, keep their masters and their rights, set what their work is worth, and draw
their royalties when they choose. Listeners get a fast, light app that streams and
downloads the freshest African drops — from Amapiano to Maskandi, Afrobeats to Gqom —
built to run smoothly on everyday devices and everyday connections, offline by default.
DeeMusiq is more than a player: it is a formal platform for positive cultural exchange,
with a goal of creating 100+ jobs across the arts and IT sectors and committing 2% of
profit to community (CSI) initiatives. The app is free on Android, Linux, Windows and
macOS, and is built on open-source software (BSD-4-Clause). The current release
is v1.1.0. DeeMusiq is a venture of The Dembe Group. The tagline says it all:
**It's a drop day.**
